Last week, South Africa brought historic charges of genocide against Israel to the International Court of Justice. Here in Portland, twenty Jews and allies were arrested at a demonstration downtown calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.


Post Strike, Tensions Run High
Though the teachers' strike is over, the relationship between Portland Public Schools and their unionized workforce is far from repaired. Moving into a newly added week of work during winter break, Unions SEIU and PFSP say they are not being paid fairly by the district.

As the Portland teacher strike moves into its historic fourth week, thousands of Portland’s teachers and their supporters temporarily took over the Burnside bridge calling for a fair contract, more staffing and safer schools.


Blocking Blumenauer
Amongst growing support nationally for Palestinian liberation, dozens of Jews and allies from Jewish Voice for Peace blocked the entrance to Oregon Representative Earl Blumenauer's office for most of the day to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.
Hold The Line
Today was day three of the historic teacher’s strike that has closed over 80 schools and impacted nearly 43 thousand students. Teachers, students, and their supporters have been picketing each morning at schools across the city, and then gathering for rallies in the afternoon.
